Women in the Fruit and Vegetable Sector at Frutech 2025 with a conference dedicated to a sustainable vision in the sector

“Responsibility, competence, vision: this is how a true transition is born.”
From November 27 to 29, the National Association of Women in Fruit and Vegetables will participate in Frutech 2025, the trade fair dedicated to innovation in the Mediterranean fruit and vegetable supply chain, which will take place at the Sicilia Fiera exhibition center in Misterbianco (Catania).
As part of the event, on November 28th at 3:00 PM, the Association—in collaboration with CREA – Policies and Bioeconomy—is organizing the conference “The New Frontiers of Fruit and Vegetables: Women’s Sustainable Vision,” a discussion dedicated to the strategic role of sustainability and the contribution of female professionals working in the sector.
The event is part of the activities planned by the CAP National Network Project 2025-2027, funded by the EAFRD – European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
In an agri-food sector faced with profound challenges—from climate change to the need for new technologies, to the growing focus on quality and local produce—sustainability becomes a strategic and cross-cutting asset. “In this context, the conference offers a look at the transformations underway, through concrete tools, existing experiences, and innovative visions presented by women-led businesses. Our goal,” explains Lucia Tudini of CREA – Policies and Bioeconomy- It is about offering tools and knowledge to support existing paths and enhance emerging innovations.”
During the meeting, topics such as sustainable agrovoltaic systems, precision irrigation and agriculture 4.0 models will be addressed, with contributions from members Adriana Lo Monaco (Agroenergia), Giulia Giuffrè (Irritec) and Adriana Occhipinti (L’Orto Magico).
Nuccia Alboni (Melanzì), a Sicilian founding member, will deliver the closing remarks: “The agri-food sector is undergoing a true transformation, requiring businesses to rethink sustainability as a key competitive lever, with an approach that combines innovation, environmental protection, and the growth of local communities. As women in the fruit and vegetable sector, we feel the responsibility and opportunity to lead this transition with expertise and vision.”
During the three days of Frutech, the Association will be happy to meet colleagues and stakeholders at stand 91 – Pavilion C2.
