FRUTECH 2025: SICILY, CAPITAL OF MEDITERRANEAN FRUIT AND VEGETABLE INNOVATION. FIRST EDITION OF “SICILIAN FRESH”, AWARD DEDICATED TO EXCELLENCE IN THE SECTOR.
From November 27 to 29, 2025, the SiciliaFiera exhibition center in Misterbianco (CT) will host the second edition of Frutech – Mediterranean Fruit & Vegetables Expo, the event dedicated to innovation, sustainability, and the internationalization of the Mediterranean fruit and vegetable sector. With a growing number of exhibitors and operators, Frutech 2025 confirms its position as a benchmark for the agri-food supply chain, bringing together producers, consortia, technology companies, and international buyers. Three intense days focusing on agriculture, innovation, organic production, and processed products, Frutech 2025 confirms its position as the leading event for the entire Sicilian and Mediterranean supply chain.
“Frutech is a meeting platform for operators and buyers,” explains Nino Di Cavolo, president of SiciliaFiera, “designed to promote exports and innovation in an increasingly sustainable and competitive supply chain. At the same time, it represents an important space for dialogue with institutions and associations committed to protecting and certifying an increasingly innovative production chain. One of the event’s pillars is technology, a key focus through companies active in agricultural mechanization, research into new crops and grafts, and the development of advanced tools for phytosanitary prevention. Furthermore, there will be a packed schedule of specialized events, including conferences dedicated to production and valorization, supporting added value and ongoing product and process innovation, thus conveying the values that make Sicily and the Mediterranean the center of the national and European production system.”
This year’s edition stands out for the presence of numerous foreign delegations, with operators specialized in European production and distribution, as well as importers and buyers from various international markets.
Sicilian Fresh, the evening that rewards excellence
On November 27th at 7:00 PM, the ‘Sicilian Fresh’ event will be held, organized by SiciliaFiera in collaboration with SGMARKETING. “The Sicilian supply chain represents a key production entity in the national fruit and vegetable sector, from citrus fruits, grapes, tomatoes, and vegetables to the presence of some exotic fruit supply chains,” says Salvo Garipoli, business director of the Bologna-based company. “Generating a powerful opportunity for discussion by sharing experiences, needs, and areas of work will help raise awareness of the good work that has been done and how much remains to be done. The sector needs to break down physical distances and generate meaningful moments of direct discussion.” During the evening, Elisa Macchi, director of CSO Italy (Centro Servizi Ortofrutticoli, ed.), will take turns on stage to illustrate, through updated statistical evidence, the state of the art of Sicilian fruit and vegetable production in relation to national trends. Duccio Caccioni, agronomist and agri-food expert, will inspire the select audience with a presentation on the meaning and value of knowing how to communicate in addressing emerging consumer needs. The conference session will conclude with a TRADE roundtable discussion, coordinated by SGMARKETING, featuring a panel of national and local large-scale retail trade and NORMAL TRADE professionals discussing the theme of “The Value of Sicilian Fruit and Vegetable Supply Chains in Support of the Evolving Market.”
I Sicilian fresh and vegetables award
Thanks to the support of numerous sponsors, the Gala will not only feature specialized content, but also recognize the production chains that have distinguished themselves this year for their ability to best meet market demands. A panel of experts, including journalists, marketing managers, quality experts, and university professors, will select five of the most outstanding companies operating in the Sicilian manufacturing and services sector. Frutech’s Sales Director, Saro Sallemi, said: “Frutech continues to be a strategic opportunity to connect the worlds of production and distribution, creating concrete growth opportunities for companies in the fruit and vegetable sector. The growing participation of exhibitors and operators demonstrates the strong demand for specialized events that combine trade exhibitions, professional development, and access to international markets. Frutech is the stage where industry stakeholders meet, and the Sicilian Fresh Gala will be a great opportunity to recognize those who believe in their local area.”
From November 27th to 29th, Sicily returns to the spotlight in the Mediterranean, confirming its position as a hub of excellence for agriculture, research, and Made in Italy products.
